Sportsmen need to refrain from complaining about the wolves chosen for release in the Northern Rocky Mountains. I was a guilty of this, myself, when I wrote, “The Wolf Pulled Over our Eyes”.
There are several reasons why sportsmen need to stop making this argument. A gray wolf is…a gray wolf. The difference is the quality and amount of food they eat. Studies have been completed on blacktail deer. Given high nutrient food, blacktail deer grow just as large as a mule deer in Colorado. A blacktail deer is a mule deer. Read More

I‘m posting this link to an article written by Bob Sherman of Explore the Bitterroot regarding the lies and deception of a pro-wolf campaign against Dale Schram in the Bitterroot Valley, Schram is the fellow who recently, legally, shot two wolves on his property that had his sheep and goats cornered. Sherman’s insights here are keen and should be spread to as many as possible. I hope Sherman’s article goes viral, as he’s pointing out some bald-face lying and media manipulation by a pro-wolf blogger, Marc Cooke, who lives in or near Stevensville, Montana, in the same valley. The environmental community has been fleecing taxpayers for years. And it has all been done without transparency. One of the most important pieces of legislation to slow the environmental assault on rural America is also one of the most overlooked. The Government Litigation Savings Act has been introduced in the 112th Congress after going no where in the 111th Congress. U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) and Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) jointly introduced the Government Litigation Savings Act, legislation that prevents abuse of the Equal Access to Justice Act (EAJA) by large environmental groups who frequently challenge the federal government in court. An innocent man, hiking in Yellowstone Park with his wife, is mauled by a grizzly bear and dies. The bear goes free without a trial because Park Rangers determined she had (full-grown) cubs with her, because she was defending her young. The man’s life is forgotten, non-accountable; he should have known.
A father of six children kills a grizzly bear on his property near Bonners Ferry in the panhandle of Idaho and goes up before the nation as a culprit because it was a grizzly bear—no matter that he was, in his mind, defending his young; he should have known better. Learn More

A new deceptive strategy on non-lethal wolf control is being perpetrated by the same anti-hunting; animal rights groups that baited everyone with a compensation program during wolf reintroduction. The promise to pay for wolf depredation which removed much opposition to wolf reintroduction was a scheme from the git go that unfortunately too many people accepted. Of course, the groups stopped paying and now the taxpayer funded programs are struggling with funding for confirmed losses. Learn More

Are some environmental groups suing for dollars?
The rash of ongoing filings under the Endangered Species Act, as evidenced in this link, has an agenda far different than the cloak of sheepskin over the animal beneath its cover.
Center for Biological Diversity asks U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to protect the eastern diamondback rattlesnake under the Endangered Species Act.
Frivolous? Could appear that way. Or Lucrative? Well now, Hummm; maybe so. Learn More

An Alliance for Wild Rockies appeal to the 9th Circuit Court could sway Molloy’s August 3rd court order. It’s the nature of litigation. The fight’s not over.
Though Missoula-based Federal Judge Molloy upheld the constitutionality of the recent Congressional appropriations rider to delist gray wolves, his order could still be shot down by an appeal from the plaintiff mentioned above. Learn More

Wyoming is closer under Federal restrictions to being allowed wolf management hunts thanks to an agreement with US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) that revises the state’s gray wolf plan.
Wyoming has been the center of controversy since the earlier efforts to delist wolves were overturned by Federal Judge Molloy in Missoula more than a year ago.
Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar and Director Dan Ashe of the USFWS made the announcement August 3rd. Learn More

Montana and Idaho can continue with their scheduled wolf hunting seasons after Judge Molloy ruled to uphold the wolf delisting rider attached to the budget bill this spring. Judge Molloy cited a precedent from the 9th Circuit Court in issuing his opinion.
Molloy’s Ruling Could Still be Appealed
Time may be a factor if an appeal can’t be heard prior to the wolf hunting seasons. The plaintiffs haven’t decided whether to appeal as of this writing. In their favor the appeal would be heard in the 9th Circuit Court which is widely regarded as the most liberal Federal Court. Learn More

We’re out of control. Federal Judge Molloy sits poised to rule against the recent Congressional effort to by-pass him. If his ruling goes as anticipated, it will temporarily retain ESA wolf protection and dissolve this year’s wolf hunting in Montana and Idaho–until, in Molloy’s words, “Congress changes the law”. Continued protection without the ability to manage could allow exponential growth in wolf numbers.
Wolf expert, Dr. Charles Kay, whom we went to hear in Salmon, Idaho a short time back, says, “To have a positive impact on dwindling elk populations, about 70% of wolves must be harvested each and every year.” Learn More

I’d like to introduce my partner on this website, Bob Sherman. You might know him from Elk in Peril or as BitterrootBob. Bob is a very savvy, highly attuned writer on the subject of delisting wolves and I’m happy to have his insights on this site. Below, though it may seem a bit lengthy, is an in-depth analysis of the situation as it actually exists. The delisting of wolves from ESA protection at this time is critical, but if you read clearly and check the following facts out for your self, you’ll find that the issue is much greater. There are clandestine forces at work in the United States and most of us involved in the effort to delist wolves agree. Please read this essay carefully and check out the links Bob has provided. Then, if you agree, consider joining us in this political fight.

Ravalli County Commissioners are seeking first-hand accounts from their constituents about wolf-human conflict, and for good reason. The unwanted interaction between the county’s citizens and this bold pack predator is getting out of hand.

The wolf activists continue their selfish challenges to wolves being delisted under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The Center for Biological Diversity today filed a challenge in federal district court in Missoula, Montana, arguing that a congressional rider requiring removal of ESA protections for wolves in the northern Rocky Mountains is unlawful because it violated the separation of powers in the U.S. Constitution.
These groups are fine with Judge Molloy managing wolves but object when Congress steps in to end the abuse of the ESA and the Equal Access to Justice Act. Learn More
